Kaski Association of the blind, A leading Self-help Organization of the blind in Kaski

Kaski Association of the Blind (KAB) is a non-Governmental, non-profit self-help organization of the blind, founded by passionate and committed youth with a visual impairment. KAB aims at promoting and protecting rights and interests of the blind people residing in the Kaski district through empowerment, advocacy and awareness-raising initiatives.

KAB’s vision is a self-reliant community of the visually impaired people in the Kaski district capable of living a dignified and productive life and participating in the developmental mainstream as equals. We envision a society where they will have an equal access to opportunities and will enjoy a barrier free social environment. We see ourselves as a truly leading regional and professional organization of the blind by the blind and for the blind in the Kaski district.

Major Activities

We are providing Audio library for visually blind persons. You can download audio books for several classes and courses.

The mission of KAB is to use the self-help development model as a tool toward achieving self-reliance of the blind and visually impaired people of Kaski, enabling them to access their rightful opportunities.

KAB’s vision is a self-reliant community of the visually impaired people in the Kaski district capable of living a dignified and productive life and participating in the developmental mainstream as equals. Goals

KAB will seek to achieve the following performance results through its activities towards the attainment of its vision and mission:
– The rights, interests and welfare of the visually impaired people are protected and promoted at all levels of the society.
– The visually impaired people are able to use their basic life skills, professional skills and their innate potential for sustaining a productive life and making equal contributions.
– Institutional and other resources at the local, national and international level are mobilized towards the sustained enhancement of the life and the work of the visually impaired people.
– Institutional capacity of KAB for serving the target beneficiaries is continuously improved.

Objectives

To protect and promote the rights, interests and welfare of the blind.
To develop leadership qualities and interpersonal skills of the blind.
To promote public awareness and advocacy.
To establish and develop fraternal relationships with national and international organizations working with the blind and other differently-able individuals.
To provide better academic and technical education to visually impaired people, enable them to access the labour market as well as pursue opportunities for self-employment.
